Today's lesson is - BALANCE!
I went out into Veszprem for the first time by myself and got completely lost. I had a hard time asking for directions because of the language barrier. I know, "Hol van .. ?" (Where is...?) but the problem is I cannot understand the people when they reply in Hungarian. Some people got mixed up translating directions to English and told me the wrong way to go. A ten minute walk turned into an hour of walking in circles. Then I get into the city to do some shopping and in every store I say, "Angolul beszelek?" (Do you speak English?) and the common reply was "Nem" (No). Looking back it wasn't a bad day, just rough. It was the first time that I've really felt like a foreigner. Here's the shoes I got, they are so freaking cute and comfortable (and European)!
How do I look??
So the balance - I had a great night. Bought some beer and drank out by the university's main building then moved to the bus stop. Then spontaneously headed to a rock concert. It was a Hungarian rock band but as my friend Adam pointed out it was all American influence (Iron Maiden t-shirts and stuff.. ). Not important, just interesting to me.
I don't know what they were saying but the music was good.
*And I got to Skype my amazingly wonderful boyfriend. It's the first time I've seen his face since I flew out on Tuesday. I needed that. (: I skyped others too but this was the first time with him..
**I've had a revelation today.. I don't want to get into it too much tonight because I'm still sorting things out in my head but this, this, is good.
