I walked through Veszprem and got to see Var Utca. (Castle District Rd.). There were three weddings going on in the main church. Beeeee-aaaaaa-uuuuu-tiful!! It was unreal! You know how many people in America would give millions of dollars to get married there?
At the end of the street there is a statue of King Istvan and Queen Gizella with a back drop of a breath taking view of Love Island and the Bakony mountain region. I was a complete idiot and forgot my camera but don't worry I will go back to Var Utca so many more times, there will be plenty of pictures. Words cannot describe what I saw today so I'm not even going to try... pics coming as soon as possible.
For now - here's some Google pics I looked up.

I also saw the szinhaz and the szinhaz kert (theatre and theatre garden). It turned 50 years old today so there was a festival and all of the music was from 50 years ago. We only stayed for a few songs but the first one I heard was Chuck Berry's Go Johnny Go... no one knew it was American.. There was, of course, Hungarian food stands everywhere but I was surprised to see American hot dog and hamburger stands with the American flag on them. Since this is a university town there are more people that can speak angolul (English) but the locals that live here usually cannot. Regardless of all that they were eating the food and dancing to the music.
That's another thing about Hungarians - they don't get wrapped up in trends and what's new and where it's from or if it's cool or lame. If they like it then they like it. It was made 10 years ago?? .. so what, it sounds good.
Everything is just so beautiful.
On a not so interesting note - I went shopping at Tesco (one of the main supermarkets here) and got some food and genuine Hungarian beer and a national favorite, turo tudz (cream cheese covered in chocolate).
Lake Balaton tomorrow!
